Centre half returns to the club after Uni

Darlington F.C Women are delighted to announce the re-signing of Alice Wearmouth for the 2026/27 season.

Alice is the Quaker Womens' fifth summer signing after returning home after three years living away at University. Alice first signed for the Quaker Women in July 2021 in Darlington’s inaugural season. She spent most of her youth playing for Darlington Spraire Lasses before signing for the Quakers at just 16 years old.

Alice was a big part of the squad for the first two seasons and made 48 competitive appearances for the team over two seasons. She then left the club to go to University and played football for a short while at Uni, before having a two year break from football. Alice, now 21 is back in a Darlington shirt and signs for her second stint with the Quaker Women.

Alice had the following to say after rejoining the Quaker Women: “I can’t wait to be back on the pitch with a lot of my old teammates and some new ones too. I’m excited to be playing in a new league and to see what the season has in store for the team.”

Manager Shaun Mackenzie said about the signing: "We are really glad to bring Alice back into the fold. She reached out after returning home after Uni and wanted to get back into football. She has done almost the full pre season with us and really impressed.

"Due to injuries and holidays, she’s played a lot of the friendlies under ‘trialist’ and got the minutes she’s needed under her belt. She has got stronger in each game and it’s like she’s never been away!

"She adds even more solidity to the back line and gives us a bit of height that we sometimes lack in the squad, she’s a welcome addition and we look forward to having Alice back amongst the squad for the new season."
