Will McGowan signs on loan for Quakers again

Third spell with Quakers

Darlington have today signed attacking midfielder Will McGowan for the third time on a season long loan from Gateshead, subject to FA and National League approval.

Will, who is 22, had two spells on loan with us last season. He joined us in September and scored twice on his debut against Southport, but was then recalled by Gateshead in November after he had played eleven times.

He joined us for the second time in March, and again scored on his return debut, away to Warrington. In total, he made 17 appearances for us, scoring four times.

Darlington manager Steve Watson said; "We’ve been trying to find a way to get Will back in a Darlo shirt and it hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it.

"He's a very good footballer, goal scorer, creator, looks after the ball well and works hard for the team. I feel the squad is really coming together, we hope to have a goalkeeper secured this week, again something we’ve been working very hard on."

Gateshead have given us permission to play Will in the FA Cup and FA Trophy — unless we are playing them. We would like to thank Gateshead for their help and co-operation with the loan.

We would like to welcome Will back to the club again, and wish him all the best.
