Darlington Youth 16s 4 SAFC Foundation of Light 2

A slow start to the game saw Darlington have a lot of possession but no reward. SAFC pressed the home side until a pin point cross from Adam Cullen found Nathan Simpson who smashed the ball home.

Safc continued to thwart Darlington who struggled to get into any sort of rhythm.

Darlington won a free kick on the halfway line. James Byrne accurately found Lewis Smith who scored with a deft header past the keeper to give Darlo a 2-0 lead. SAFC continued to work hard and were rewarded with a well deserved goal to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half got underway in much the same pattern of Darlo having possession but not using it well.

Lewis Smith wormed his way into the box and was brought down winning a penalty which he converted himself to make it 3-1 to Darlington.

Darlington continues to press but were caught on the counter attack and SAFC pulled one back to make it 3-2.

Darlington were clearly frustrated but Nathan Simpson broke into the box and struck again for Darlington to make it 4-2.

All in all a well deserved win to Darlington who never really got into top gear
