3Up: Jeff Stelling announced as 3Up ambassador

Broadcaster in place before day of action

As National League clubs and the Trident leagues build up to the 3UP Day of Action,
prominent football figures from across the game are lending their support and backing the
3.03pm kick-offs on Saturday 15 November.

Influential sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling MBE has been calling for three promotions for
decades and now officially joins our list of ambassadors supporting the 3UP campaign.
Last week Stelling was referenced at Prime Minister’s Questions by MP for Hartlepool
Jonathan Brash MP as a “champion” of our cause calling for the EFL to end our 23-year wait
for fairness and parity in the professional football pyramid. Sir Kier Starmer commended
their efforts.
And today the five-time SJA Sports Broadcaster of the Year added his widely respected
opinion to the growing number of voices asking direct questions of the EFL.

He said: “For more than 60 years Hartlepool United have been a huge part of my life and for most of those 60 years it has been a Football League club. I am in touch with many fans, and I know we are all desperate for them to get into the EFL once again.
“However, under the current unfair system it is altogether possible that this may not happen again in my lifetime! I don’t know what the EFL so afraid of.”
“A trip to Barrow or Newport on a wet, cold Tuesday night may not be everyone’s idea of
footballing nirvana, but it is mine!
“Kicking off three minutes late is a great way of highlighting this renewed push to try and
secure a third promotion place and I know all the other 71 National League clubs are full
square behind it, just as Hartlepool and their fans are.”

There is growing support this month for the 3UP campaign from club terraces and football
media to sporting organisations and the government benches in the Houses of Parliament.
Last week the National League published a Fan Toolkit providing ways in which everyone
can support the cause as we build up to our 3UP Day of Action. This includes links to sign
the new change.org petition and how to write to your local MP about the issue
