Listen to what she says

After the recent departure of Lou Brown, women's team manager Shaun Mackenzie has chosen Aimee Dagnall to take on the responsibility of becoming the skipper.

Aimee has been at the club since the start, and was a member of the 21/22 squad, contributing massively in the inaugural season with 8 goals and 15 assists. Despite struggling with injuries and major surgeries over the past  fiveseasons, Aimee has still managed to make 62 appearances for Darlington, starting 58 of those games and coming off the bench in the other 4.

Aimee has an impressive record of 25 goals for the club and 34 assists, which are excellent numbers for a central midfielder. Despite her setbacks, Aimee has showed plenty of resilience to get back playing each time and always plays for the badge. Although wearing the armband on quite a few occasions, she now steps up to the role of club captain, with Leanne Clennett remaining vice-captain.

Aimee sat down with Leila Wilcox before the Hartlepool Pools Youth game at the weekend and Leila got her thoughts on being handed the captaincy in the build up to the game against Hartlepool.
