Alun signs new two year deal

Staying at the club until June 2025

Darlington FC is very pleased to announce that manager Alun Armstrong has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Alun is now in his fourth season at the club, and in his stay so far, he has taken us into play off contention this season, into the first round of the FA Cup twice (we beat League One club Swindon Town two seasons ago) and into the quarter finals of the FA Trophy. No-one will ever forget the amazing day that we drew at Walsall in the first round of the FA Cup in 2019, the first time we had reached the competition proper as a fan-owned club.

He has also brought on players such as Luke Charman, Justin Donawa, Adam Campbell, Erico Sousa and Mark Beck, helping them step up to full time football.

Chief executive officer David Johnston said; "We're absolutely delighted that Alun has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club for another two years.
"Considering that we are competing against full time clubs in our division, he has done supremely well to take us to the top of the table and have us battling away for promotion. Our resources are much smaller than other clubs, but Alun and his staff have produced some exciting players and teams, which we hope he will continue doing.
"We have had some great memories under Alun, and we hope that there will be a lot more."

Here are Alun's thoughts on his new deal::

We are sure that everyone at Darlington Fc is delighted that Alun has committed his future to us.
