Luke on England C duty tonight
Darlington wing back Luke Trotman is now on duty with England C ahead of their international with Wales C on Tuesday night at Salford City.
Luke , who has been outstanding for us this season, is eagerly looking forward to his first game in England C colours, and follows in the footsteps of team mate Joe Wheatley, who was called up last year. He has also spoken to Dapo Afolayan, who was with him at Loughborough University, and landed a move from Solihull Moors to West Ham after playing for England C.
Luke told the Non League paper at the weekend: “It’s bit surreal at the minute but I’m looking forward to the experience and challenging myself.
“Joe Wheatley has been there and he really enjoyed it. I spoke to Dapo the other day. We were in the same year at Uni and he loved playing for England C as well.”
Luke is in his second year of a Banking, Finance and Management degree - -something he was spurred to by a leg break in a youth team game for Luton Town.
“I was at Luton from the age of eight and did quite well. I made my debut at 16 and I was flying. I got my pro deal and then John Still left. As I came back from injury, Nathan Jones came in, and mentally, I wasn’t at the same level as before.
“I fell out of love with football. I had the opportunity to go to other clubs, but I wanted to go to Uni. I wanted something to fall back on.
“This season has been my first playing every game again and I’m doing better. I just need to score some goals – everyone is getting on to me about it!”
Luke also chatted to the official website about his call up on 1st March -- you can listen to the interview here.
Everyone at Darlington FC would like to wish Luke all the best tonight.
