Quakers nearly took the lead on 3 minutes. Cedric Main was fouled on the edge of the Bootle box, and Bootle keeper Tony Thompson went full length to save from Aidan Rutledge.
Bootle had their first chance when Jack Lenehan set up Sean Smith, who fired a few yards wide, and then Lenehan headed an inswinging corner over the top.
And Bootle had another chance when Lenehan set up Sam Hughes, and his effort was well blocked on the six yard line by Scott Barrow.
Enciuraged by the chances they'd created , Bootle took the lead on 22 minutes, a long ball forward was chased by Ben Hodkinson, the Darlington defence failed to deal with it, and he poked the ball past the advancing Jameson.
Quakers nearly levelled on 24 minutes, a cross from the left was met by Jack Maskell, whose header was well saved by Thompson.
After that, play was mainly in midfield with Quakers slowly getting on top, although Will McGowan nearly got a shot in from Main's lay off, but he was crowded out, and Tom Platt tried a half volley from outside the area which went wide
Half time 1-0
Quakers made three subs at the start of the second half, Will Hatfield, Josh Scott and Tom Allan coming on for Darlo, Ellis Stanton , Ben Hedley and Aidan Rutledge coming off.
Then they had to make another change when Toby Lees went off injured on 51 minutes and was replaced by Kallum Griffiths, with Tye Barton moving to centre back.
Quakers went close on 58 minutes when Josh Scott was fouled on the left, and Will Hatfield whipped the free kick just wide of the far post.
They had another chance on 65 minutes when Griffiths picked the ball up 40 yards out, ran forward and hit a right foot shot just over.
But then Quakers stunned Bootle with three goals in nine minutes that turned the game on its head
They levelled on 67 minutes when Griffiths crossed from the right for Maskell to head the ball down for McGowan to sweep home.
And Quakers went in front on 73 minutes when Hatfield found McGowan on the edge of the box, he took a touch, and curled the ball into the bottom left corner.
It was 3-1 on 76 minutes when McGowan played the ball through for Tom Allan to latch on to and beat the keeper.
Quakers saw the game out comfortably after that, but without a doubt Bootle had given them a scare in the first half.
