πŸ”₯ Match Preview

Darlo look to go on a new winning run after defeat to Macclesfield in midweek when they travel to Chester on Saturday.

The Quakers come into this game after a 2-1 loss to Macclesfield, when Jack Maskell got the goal for Darlo early in the second half

Away from home this season, Darlo have been one of the best in the league and currently sit 4th in the away form table with nine wins, and three draws in 18 games with 31 goals scored, and 26 conceded for a total of 30 points.

Darlington’s opponents, Chester, have had a mixed season with managerial issues but still find themselves 10th in the table and only five points from the playoff spots. Calum McIntyre recently stood down as manager, with Connell Rawlinson taking over.

The Seals come into this game after a 2-1 win at home to Spennymoor with two goals from Fin Shrimpton to keep the points at the Deva Stadium.

When at home this season, Chester remain a hard team to beat with only four losses in 18 home games, with six wins and eight draws, with 27 goals scored and 25 conceded for a total of 26 points, which puts them 12th in the home form table.

The last time the teams met was back in September, when a last-minute equaliser from Josh Scott meant both teams settled for a draw. The previous meeting at the Deva Stadium resulted in a 2-1 win to Chester despite an early goal from Will McGowan.

Fin Shrimpton has stepped up in the middle of the park for Chester, having scored 5 goals in the last six games, including a brace last Saturday against Spennymoor Town. Shrimpton has vast experience at this level having played for Scunthorpe, Spennymoor and Chester. He is a versatile player who usually gets deployed in central midfield.

Pat Jones has been a big threat on the left-hand side for The Seals, having contributed seven goals and three assists this season. He scored in the fixture between the two clubs earlier in the season, which ended 1-1.
