Fancy seeing some of the Darlo Legends in action again?
A fundraising game in aid of Darlington FC's Boost the Budget campaign has been organised by Darlington fans Chris Vallis, Rob Duncan and Sean Hadland and will take place on Saturday 26th June 2021, kick off 11am at Darlington RA.
A team of Darlo Legends from 2012 onwards, put together by ex-captain Gary Brown, will face a Darlo Uncovered fans' team, at Darlington RA's ground in Brinkburn Road, Darlington (DL3 9LF).
It’s sure to be a great occasion, as Gary has promised to bring several former Darlo players along with him – and they’ll be around to swop stories afterwards.
Here is everything you need to know if you're thinking of coming along and supporting the game:
- Gates will open at 10am for entry for fans. Kick-off is at 11am.
- Entry prices are £10 for adults and £5 for children.
- Please note that it will be cash only in terms of entry. There is no facility for card payments, unfortunately. If fans could bring the correct money to pay it would be really helpful.
- There will be two entry points at the ground; one at the main gate through turnstile and one at gate further along Brinkburn Road. Both entrances will have stewards present to direct people, manage queues and offer assistance as required. Stewards will also be positioned around the ground throughout the game.
- The bar will be open for drinks and there will be onsite food also available for purchase for the duration of the day. A stall will also be selling DFC merchandise.
- DJ Tomma will be there on the day, playing music, commentating on the game and confirming player info for both teams to keep the crowd informed.
- Legends players will be staying at the RA ground for the afternoon to meet and mingle with fans post-match and are happy to chat, have photos taken, sign autographs, etc.
- After the game Darlington RA Cricket Club and Darlington CC will play one another, starting at 1pm. Fans are more than welcome to stay and watch.
- Darlo fan Ray Morrison has sponsored the match ball for his grand-daughter, Sadie Morrison, who is not even one year-old yet but already a Darlo fan! Ray has very kindly donated £50 for this, which we really appreciate. Thank you Ray and little Sadie!
- Fancy a game? There are four spaces available at auction to play for the Darlo Legends team, with a starting bid of £50 for each place. This will be going on eBay during w/c 7th June, so watch out for that and give yourself the opportunity to play alongside your Darlo heroes!
Darlington RA have very kindly given use of their facilities for free for this event and are big supporters of Darlington FC. A large number of Darlo fans are members of the club and actively support both Darlo and the Darlington RA football, cricket and junior football sections.
The RA ground has been refurbished during lockdown and is actively looking for new members. It is a community club and a big local asset, very much focused on giving children and young adults the chance to play a whole range of sports. There is also a social club, where families and friends can enjoy watching live sport or sport on TV together. There is also a large beer garden that faces the cricket pitch, which is a great spot to relax in the sunshine.
This will be a fun day and will give fans the opportunity to see a number of Darlo legends who helped the club back to glory play again whilst providing additional support for 'Boost The Budget' too, so don't miss out!
Chris, Rob and Sean have put a lot of work into the day -- so please give them your support.
