Darlington Youth Under 17 8 St Aidens Black Cats 1.

Another good performance by the Under 17s, the difference this week was they kept playing and didn't ease off when they got in front. They played some very good football at times and scored a few excellent goals , They looked that little bit sharper and had a bit more desire this week , goals came from Joseph Smith 3, Niall Smith 1, Luke Jenkinson 1,Dale Milburn 2, Adam Lambert 1.

Boro Rangers 5 Darlington Youth Under 11s 0.

Darlington under 11 were drawn away to a strong Boro Rangers team in the opening round of the league cup in a game that was also their opening competitive fixture of the new season. Both Oli Clark and Callum Moncur were making their debuts and the team as ever supported each other to get a foothold in the game that for the first 15 minutes was one way traffic. Only excellent defending from Darren Waites, Callum Moncur and Luke Hegarty in particular ensured the sides were still level on the 20 minute mark. Connor Peat continued to make outstanding saves as Darlington then began to see more of the ball and looked threatening at times with the pace of Chris Walters and Jack Clarkson.

The Quakers youth team then had a chance from a free kick on the edge of the box after Benjamin Keating was brought down trying to break through the Rangers defence. Sadly the free kick was met by the Rangers wall and just before the half Rangers saw their dominance rewarded with a neat move and finish soon to be followed by a second before the half time whistle. In the second half both teams played some good football and Darlington used their squad as players were getting used to the 9 aside format; Harry Dixon coming on at right midfield and Logan Irvine on the left with Callum Campbell occupying a central role. Jo Crompton continued to work hard at the centre of midfield but the pressure eventually told as the game wore on and Rangers ran in a further three goals by the end and ran out 5-0 winners. The winning margin could have been less as Darlington attacked well down both flanks throughout the second half and had some good strikes on goal.

Both teams finished with a spirited friendly penalty shoot out and the match was played with a sense of fair play and companionship all round. Well done to all the lads.

Darlington TSC 5 Darlington Under 16s 2.

Darlington Under 16's visited local team Darlington TSC in the first round of the TJFA cup. Darlo got off to a slow and sluggish start and they eventually conceded to a free kick late in the first half. Darlo picked up their game towards the end of the first half and played some excellent high tempo football but didn't manage to capitalise on their late dominance.

Darlo started the first half as they ended the second with impressive football. This high tempo strategy paid off as Darlo equalised and then took the lead. TSC came back into the game through two quick goals putting them ahead 3-2. The hosts eventually reinforced their lead with two more goals putting them through to the next round. Another game where Darlo u16's showed very high quality football in spells which will get more consistent the more they bond as a team.
