Quakers came from behind to collect the points against Boston United.

They've now picked up seven points out of the last nine to move into the top seven of the table.

They fell behind to a hotly disputed penalty, but goals from Mark Beck, Jacob Hazel and Jake Lawlor in a lethal 14 minute spell put them 3-1 ahead just past the hour mark in the second half.

But Boston pulled a late goal back through Scott Pollock to give them some nervous moments.

Quakers had a chance on three minutes. A patient build up saw Mark Beck lay the ball off for Jack Lambert, who turned and fired left footed over the top.

They had another chance on 6 minutes. Ben Hedley found Jacob Hazel on the edge of the box, and his powerful left foot shot was pushed away at full stretch by Sam Long in the Boston goal.

And there was an opportunity for Hazel again a minute later, but Long held his low effort.

Boston nearly took the lead on 13 minutes off their first corner. The ball was curled in from the left, Quakers couldn’t clear it, and Ben Pollock’s header was headed off the line.

And Boston went close again on 15 minutes. A cross from the left went to Lebrun Mbeka at the far post, and his low shot was deflected by Scott Pollock, and Tommy Taylor pulled off a good reaction save. Pollock but the rebound over the top.

Quakers had the ball in the net on 17 minutes, when Lambert found Hazel inside the box, and as he was challenged, the ball hit Hazel on the arm, and the goal was disallowed.

Boston took the lead on 20 minutes. The referee said that Jassem Sukar fouled a Boston player as he went for a left wing cross at the far post, and after Quakers' protests died down, Scott Pollock scored from the spot.

Quakers had a penalty shout turned down on 34 minutes. Lambert chipped a free kick into the area where Beck seemed to have his shirt pulled as he went for the ball, but the referee waved play on.

Lambert made a good run down the left, but his cross into the middle was blocked.

A free kick caused problems in the Boston defence, and when Moke nodded the ball forward Long and a defender collided but Quakers couldn’t take advantage.

Boston were reduced to ten men on 44 minutes when Lambert got past two men in the Boston half, and defender Mbeka lunged in two footed with his studs showing, and the ref immediately showed a red card.

Half time 0-1

Quakers put the pressure on the Boston defence at the start of the second half. Kaine Felix had a cross from the right cleared, and there were penalty shouts when Hazel appeared to be held down as he went for a left wing Hedley cross.

But Quakers levelled on 52 minutes. They pinned Boston back enough for skipper Moke to cross into the middle from the right for Beck to head into the top corner of the net, his fourth of the season.

Quakers nearly went 2-1 up when Lambert found plenty of space to hit a right foot shot that Long couldn’t hold, and Hazel, following up, couldn’t turn the ball home.

Quakers scored again on 55 minutes. A long ball by Lawlor was nodded down by Beck for Lambert to hit powerfully first time from the edge of the box. The keeper couldn’t hold the ball again, and this time Hazel, following up, headed into the net for his second goal of the season.

Jacob Hazel celebrates after his goal

It was nearly 3-1 on 61 minutes, when Quakers won the ball in midfield, and Lambert hit a 25 yarder that skidded off the wet surface and Long held on.

The third came along on 64 minutes. Purver found Lambert out on the left, Lambert cut into the area and hit a right foot shot that was going wide, until Lawlor, who was the sponsors' man of the match, managed to turn the ball into the net, his first goal of the season.

Boston tried to hit back, and Scott Pollock fired into the side netting.

A good interchange between Hazel and Beck almost saw Hazel burst into the box, before Hazel was challenged, and then Moke set up sub Ben Liddle, who fired over the top.

Quakers stayed well in control after that, but they had a scare when Jake Wright headed towards goal from six yards, and Taylor just managed to touch the ball on to the crossbar.

In the last minute, Scott Pollock chested down a right wing cross and poked the ball past Taylor to give Quakers a late scare. They had one or two nervous moments after that, but with Lawlor getting to everything, they held on for the points.
