Buxton got a free kick on the left in the third minute which was floated in by Adam Livingstone for Jarrett Rivers to clear, and that started a quick counter attack when Mitch Curry played the ball through for Cedric Main, who from a tight angle, hit the side netting.

Buxton tried to reply, but Matty Young confidently held on to a left wing cross by Livingstone.

Quakers created a great chance on 8 minutes when the ball was played out wide right to Matty Cornish, who crossed into the middle for Rivers to head wide of the left hand post.

Main forced his way past three tackles and found Cornish on the right, in turn he played the ball back for Hatfield to shoot wide.

Ben Liddle sent Curry racing away in the inside left position on 21 minutes, but once he got to the edge of the area, he played the ball square for Rivers, who was pulled up for a foul.

Cornish then found Ben Hedley with a ball out to the left, and the full back cut in and hit a right foot shot that took a slight deflection, but was saved by Joe Young in the Buxton goal.

Quakers then put together a good move which ended when Kallum Griffiths floated a cross over from the right, and Rivers couldn’t quite reach the ball at the far post.

Quakers nearly scored when Liddle found Hedley, who moved in and hit a low right foot shot that the keeper saved.

Itwas all Quakers at this point, but Buxton scored after 34 minutes. Buxton keeper Joe Young cleared the ball high downfield, the ball bounced on the edge of the Darlington box, and Scott Barrow headed the ball past Matty Young, who was stranded in no man's land.

It was nearly 2-0 when a corner from the left was met with a powerful header by Jake Hull, and Griffiths somehow headed the ball off the line.

Quakers must have been wondering how the ywere behind at half time.

Half time 0-1

Quakers started the second half with a great diagonal ball by Barrow over the defence for Griffiths to control and get into the box, but his pull back was intercepted.

They nearly levelled when Liddle played the ball into the left side of the box for Curry to get to the bye line and pull the ball back for Cornish, whose left foot shot seemed to be going into the bottom corner until a defender got his toe to the ball.

Curry won a corner on 61 minutes, but it was headed away by the giant Hull.

Main’s persistence won him a free kick on the edge of the box on 63 minutes , but Griffiths drove the free kick straight at Joe Young.

Quakers made a sub on 65 minutes, Andrew Nelson coming on for Hedley -- and the game turned in Quakers' favour.

Nelson won another corner on 69 minutes and Quakers levelled from it. Liddle played the ball into the near post where Nelson flicked it on, and Curry tapped the ball in from a yard out for his fifth of the season.

Cameron Salkeld came on for Rivers on 75 minutes.

Quakers took the lead on 82 minutes. Griffiths cross into the middle from the right was headed away by a defender as far as Nelson, who kept his composure and fired into the bottom left corner for his first goal since August. His celebration was a mixture of delight and relief

It was nerve jangling stuff after that, but Quakers held on for their third home win of the season, although a last minute free kick caused a couple of anxious moments and a very brief sub appearance by Tom Platt to defend it, but Quakers got the ball away to the huge delight of the fans.
