Quakers put in a huge amount of effort, but couldn’t quite take all three points against Chorley.

They took the lead with a great free kick by Caden Kelly, but the visitors levelled before half time. It was a better performance than the one against Rushall, but Quakers couldn't quite grab a winner.

The result means that Quakers are now seven points behind the play offs with six games remaining.

Chorley had a chance in the first minute, when the ball was crossed from the left for Warren Clarke, who was standing near the penalty spot, to head wide of the right hand post.

Quakers won a free kick on 3 minutes for a foul on Will Hatfield, but his resultant free kick went straight through to Matt Urwin.

The visitors gained their first corner on 5 minutes , but Kristi Montgomery miskicked on the edge of the area and Quakers cleared.

Quakers' first attempt at goal was on 7 minutes, a right foot shot by Cedric Main that went wide from the edge of the area.

Quakers stunned Chorley when they took the lead on 13 minutes. Sam Hetherington was fouled 30 yards out, and Caden Kelly fired the free kick over the wall and into the bottom right corner of the net, his fifth of the season, and the first goal that Quakers have scored against Chorley in five meetings.

Quakers’ confidence clearly increased, and they had a good spell of pressure which ended with Jack Maskell, with his back to goal, chesting the ball down, swivelling and then firing straight at Urwin.

But Chorley levelled after 31 minutes when Billy Whitehouse crossed from the left to the far post where Kole Hall headed past Peter Jameson.

The home side nearly regained the lead on 37 minutes when Kelly chipped a free kick into the box for Maskell to head the ball high in the air towards the far post, and the ball hit the crossbar before the Chorley defence got the ball away.

And there was another chance on 44 minutes when Kelly swung a corner over from the right, and Maskell got in a powerful header that was deflected over the bar by a defender.

Half time 1-1

Quakers made a substitution at half time, Ben Andreucci, coming on for Hetherington, who had picked up a knee injury.

Cedric Main won an early free kick about 20 yards out on the left after 47 minutes, and once again Kelly fired towards the bottom right corner, but the ball shaved the post.

Chorley replied with a header by Mike Calveley from a corner, that dropped on the roof of the net.

Main had a half chance on the hour when a flick on by Maskell sent him away, but a defender just managed to get back and block his shot.

Andreucci went off injured -- it looked as if he was having a problem with his collar bone -- on 73 minutes and was replaced by Hazeem Bakre.

Chorley then had a penalty shout turned down when Kole Hall went down in the area, but the referee booked him for simulation.

The Chorley defence opened up on 84 minutes when Hatfield found Main, but Main couldn’t get his shot away.

Jameson pulled off a great save with two minutes left, when he just managed to tip a dipping free kick by Adam Blakeman from 25 yards over the bar.

Quakers kept going, and in stoppage time, Nelson tried his luck with a 25 yarder that Urwin held on to.
