Quakers bounced back from their Southport nightmare with a comfortable win over a youthful Guiseley.

Quakers enjoyed the lion's share of possession, and gained an early confidence boost with an early goal by man of the match Jack Lambert, who set up a second for Jake Cassidy and was involved in the build up to the penalty for the third.

Quakers put the Guiseley defence under early pressure, with Jack Lambert having a shot blocked, then Jake Cassidy was pulled up for a foul as he went for a left wing cross by Ben Hedley.

Quakers took the lead on 8 minutes. Lambert, playing in a forward role, found Jarrett Rivers on the right and then made ground into the middle to receive the return pass and then squeeze past the advancing keeper into the net -- his first goal on his return to the club.

Guiseley curled a corner into the side netting as they tried to hit back.

Quakers had a good chance on 15 minutes when Kallum Griffiths crossed from the right for Jake Cassidy to glance a header wide.

The visitors responded with a good ball by Luke Hall out to the left, from where Jacob Gratton cut in and fired straight at Taylor.

Quakers had another spell of pressure which ended with Ben Hedley moving up from left back and shooting over the top from 30 yards, then Will Hatfield had a shot charged down.

However, Guiseley threatened on the break, and Hall struck a left foot shot that went just wide.

At the other end, Jarrett Rivers picked up a short pass from Alex Purver, beat two men, and forced Lambton into a low save down to his right.

Rivers then dribbled past three men and found Hatfield, whose low shot was saved at full stretch by Lambton, then Kevin Dos Santos turned well inside the box and Lambton saved at the foot of the post.

Griffiths beat two men and had a low shot blocked from ten yards, as did Rivers with the follow up.

The pressure eventually told, and it was 2-0 on 44 minutes when Lambert broke into the box and found Cassidy, who fired the ball low past Lambton.

It was nearly three when Hatfield set up Purver, whose low shot was saved at full stretch by Lambton to his right.

The keeper had certainlly done his best to keep the score down.

Half time 2-0

At the start of the second half, Quakers were awarded a penalty when Lambert was bundled to the ground after he'd dribbled into the area, and Hatfield blasted the ball past Lambton, his fourth goal of the season.

Quakers were in control after that, without creating a chance until the 63rd minute, when a cross by Rivers aimed towards Lambert was headed over his own crossbar by a defender, and from the corner that followed, Alex Storey headed wide.

But hard working Guiseley pulled a goal back on 67 minutes. Jacob Gratton made a good run in from the right and set up Lewis Hey, who sidefooted into the corner of the net past Tommy Taylor.

It was nearly 4-1 when Lambert got into the box on the left and fired into the six yard area, where Alex Storey had an effort cleared off the line.

But when the corner from Rivers came over from the left, Jake Cooper headed into the roof of the net for his first goal for the club.

Hatfield nearly got another, but he fired just wide from 15 yards after Cooper had played the ball back to him.

Sub Junior Mondal got the ball in the back of the net, but Rivers, who supplied him with the pass, was flagged offside.

Another sub, Joe Wheatley, tried his luck from 25 yards, but Lambton saved well.

Junior Mondal then scored his first goal for the club on 87 minutes, when he picked up a precise through ball from Rivers, sidestepped the keeper, and scored into an empty net.
