Quakers were beaten by promotion chasing King's Lynn at Blackwell Meadows.

The visitors showed their quality by scoring twice in the first half and again at the start of the second.

Quakers pulled a goal back from the penalty spot which led to a spirited end to the game, but they had too much to do in order to rescue a point.

Quakers won a free kick for a foul on Jack Lambert about 25 yards out after 4 minutes, but the defensive wall blocked Lambert’s low attempt.

Lynn won a corner on the left on 8 minutes, it was curled into the near post where Omotayo got a touch on the ball which went past the far post.

Lynn put together a move down the left which ended with Theo Widdrington running the ball out of play.

Quakers won a free kick way out on the right for a foul on Moke on 15 minutes, Lambert whipped the ball in, a  defender failed to clear, and Felix fired just wide of the left hand post, although the ball took a deflection. The opposition defence dealt with the following corner.

Lynn went close on 19 minutes when Josh Barrett found Christian Oxlade Chamerlain on the right, and the full back’s low cross bounced off the top of the crossbar.

Felix made a good run down the right after 22 minutes, but his cross was held by Dixon-Hodge.

Quakers nearly scored after 29 minutes. Lambert picked the ball up about 40 yards out, ran forward 10 yards, and hit a left foot shot narrowly wide of the left hand post.

Lynn took the lead on 33 minutes. A long throw in to the near post was punched away by Taylor, but Barrett put a diving header towards goal which was pushed away, but Ben Stephens was on hand to head the ball into the net.

It was nearly 2-0 when Stephens got around the back and his right foot shot came back off the post, and Barrett’s follow up was deflected wide.

But the respite was only brief, because when the ball came in from the right, Coulson headed into the corner of the net on 38 minutes.

Quakers won two corners in the first minute of stoppage time, but the visiting defence dealt with them.

Half time 0-2

It was 3-0 just after half time when Stephens put the ball into the box from the right, Barrett had a shot blocked, as did Omotayo, but the King’s Lynn striker first and knocked the ball past Taylor.

Quakers tried to respond. Hedley found Felix with a good 40 yard pass and he pulled the ball back for Liddle on the edge of the box, but he miskicked.

Felix then sprinted down the right and got into the box, but Dixon-Hodge held on to his cross.

Liddle sent Hazel into the box, but Hazel’s pull back was intercepted.

The ref stopped play on 66 minutes when the ball was in the Darlington box, because of a clash of heads between Lawlor and Sukar. Lawlor needed several minutes of treatment.

NIall Brookwell came on to replace him.

Quakers got a penalty on 70 minutes when Hazel chased a ball forward by Newall and was brought down by Dixon-Hodge, and Liddle scored from the spot, his sixth goal of the season.

Quakers had a chance two minutes later when Liddle set up Lambert, whose left foot shot was saved by Dixon-Hodge.

Omotayo missed an easy chance from ten yards, and Taylor saved anAdam Crowther header from a right wing corner.

Quakers had another penalty shout turned down when Felix chased a Cooper through ball into the box and went down, but the referee waved play on.

Quaers kept going to the end, and Newall missed from six yards in stoppage time.
