Quakers were beaten by fellow strugglers King's Lynn at Blackwell Meadows.

Quakers conceded two poor goals in between Jacob Hazel's header, but after dominating  the second half, couldn't find the equaliser.

However, they had a couple of strong penalty appeals turned down in the second half.

Quakers went a goal down after 19 seconds, King's Lynn got the ball up the left for Josh Barrett to run through and place into the bottom right hand corner.

Quakers responded with a shot by Will Hatfield which went just over the top, then a good move which ended with Jonny Ngandu curling a shot into the hands of Lynn keeper Paul Jones.

They won a corner on 7 minutes on the right, which Tom Platt headed over from Ngandu’s setpiece.

They had another chance on 15 minutes when Cameron Salkeld, playing on the right, crossed to the far post for Toby Lees to have a header saved.

But Quakers got back into the game on 16 minutes when the ball was crossed from the left by Ben Hedley for Jacob Hazel to glance past the keeper for his second goal of the season.

However, Lynn got through at the other end when Barrett set up Ben Stephens, and Robson saved well at his feet.

But Lynn regained the lead after 21 minutes when Barrett got through on the left and fired the ball into the six yard box where the ball ended up in the back of the net through a crowd of players.

Barrett nearly got his hat trick with a free kick from 30 yards that curled just past the post, then Stephens hit a first time shot that Robson just managed to touch over the bar.

Quakers tried to hit back, but Platt mishit a 25 yarder wide, and then when they got a free kick 30 yards out for a foul on Hatfield, and when his free kick came out to Salkeld, he volleyed over the top.

Lynn got a free kick on the edge of the D which Barrett took, and his effort took a deflection off the wall for a corner which came to nothing.

Then Barrett tried his luck with a low shot that Robson just managed to claw away.

Salkeld cut in from the right and had a shout for a penalty when he went down, but the referee waved his appeals away.

Half time 1-2

Quakers nearly levelled at the start of the second half when Ngandu curled a free kick over from the left for Lees to head just wide.

And they had another chance when Ngandu made space for himself and hit a right foot shot that Jones could only parry, and the ball ran to the edge of the box from where Andrew Nelson drove the ball over the top.

They thought they should have had a penalty on 56 minutes when Hatfield ran into the box and went down, but the referee booked him instead for simulation.

Hazel went close on 61 minutes when a long ball from Lawlor fell for him, and his low shot from 30 yards was well saved by Jones down to his left.

Ngandu seemed to pose the biggest threat, and he was unlucky with a left foot shot that went just over the bar.

But Lynn broke out and Stevens set up Barrett again, however Robson blocked his shot

Quakers were denied by the post on 70 minutes when Hatfield cleverly dribbled his way into the box and laid the ball off for Hazel, who in turn set up Nelson, who fired against the right hand post from the edge of the box.

Nelson then put a great cross into the box from the right, but Hazel couldn’t get his header on target.

There was another penalty shout when Hazel was bundled to the ground as he tried to bring the ball down, but again the ref waved play on.

Quakers put Jarrett Rivers on for Jack Hannah with eight minutes left.

Lynn were reduced to ten men when centre half Adam Crowther was sent off for his second bookable offence.  From the free kick, the ball went into the box and Hatfield went down, but again the referee waved play on.
