Two goals from prolific striker Mark Beck gave Quakers the points at Blackwell Meadows.

Quakers have now won five in a row in league and FA Cup, and once again it was Beck who led the way, scoring a goal in each half against a good Peterborough Sports side to give them the points. He has now scored 11 goals in ten league and cup matches -- it must be some time since a Darlington striker had reached double figures by the end of September.

And Quakers will also be pleased with their defensive display to give them only their second clean sheet of the season.

Here are the highlights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYC0WoH0nKM

Sports had the early pressure and forced a corner in the fifth minute but Mark Beck, helping his defence out, headed the ball away.

Jacob Hazel intercepted a deep crossfield ball in his own box, flicked the ball over his head,  ran 4o yards and played the ball through for Kane Felix, who crossed first time in the middle for Beck, who had charged upfield, to head into the corner -- his tenth goal of the season!

Sports defender Connor Johnson was booked for a late challenge on Beck as he picked up a loose ball in the Sports half.

Quakers won their first corner on 13 minutes, but the keeper held on to Lambert’s flag kick, and then they won another on 14 minutes. This time, the ball was played out by the defence to Ben Hedley who found Lambert on the right, and he crossed for Beck who glanced his header wide.

Sports replied with a deep free kick from the left that was headed down at the far post and Tommy Taylor palmed the ball away.

Quakers had to withstand some pressure before they created a chance on 26 minutes when Alex Purver flighted the ball in for Beck to get his head to the ball, but he couldn’t direct the ball on target

Sports won possession on the half hour after 30 yards out, but Sembie-Ferris’ effort was saved low down by Taylor,  and in their next attack Kyjuon Marsh-Brown cut in from the left and hit a right foot shot that Taylor saved.

It was nearly 2-0 though on 39 minutes when Beck got away in the box on the right and squared the ball for Felix, who sidefooted just wide from six yards.

Half time 1-0

Quakers had a half chance at the start of the second half when Beck headed down a right wing cross, and Crook just saved at the feet of Jack Lambert.

They had to make a second change because of injury on 53 minutes when Hazel limped off with a deadleg, and Jarrett Rivers replaced him.

It was 2-0 on 60 minutes, and again it was Becky. Danny Rose found Felix on the right with a good ball, and in turn he found Griffiths on the overlap on the right to cross for Beck to glance into the bottom corner for his eleventh of the season.

Quakers had a shout for a penalty on 70 minutes when the ball came into the box from the right and Beck appeared to be impeded as he went for it, but the referee waved play on.

Sports nearly scored twice in the space of a minute. Ryan Fryatt had a free header from a right wing corner, but his effort was blocked as was the follow up from Gash on the six yard line.

And from the left wing corner that followed, Fryatt headed narrowly over the top from six yards.

The game maintaiend its fast tempo and Quakers had a goal disallowed when Hedley’s right wing cross was flicked on by Lambert for Beck to head past Crook, but the flag went up for offside.

It was nearly 3-0 on 83 minutes when Rivers made a good run into the box, pulled the defenders to him and then laid the ball back for Lambert to fire just wide of the left hand post
