Alun: I'm pleased with the performance
By Ray Simpson
This afternoon's friendly against Rochdale
Darlington 1 Rochdale 2
Quakers produced an excellent performance despite losing 2-1 at home to Football League opposition.
The match was part of the deal that took Luke Charman to Rochdale, and saw Quakers cause their opponents quite a few headaches, especially the partnership of Mark Beck and Jacob Hazel up front.
Quakers took the lead when Jack Lambert crossed for Beck to set up Hazel, who fired him his fifth goal in three pre season games.
But Rochdale quickly hit back, and scored twice for victory.
However, there were plenty of positives in the Darlington performance for manager Alun Armstrong.
