Darlington beat Scarborough for the first time in four attempts at Blackwell Meadows to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches.

They took an early lead through Will Hatfield, but Scarborough hit back to lead 2-1.

But then Caden Kelly scored either side of half time, with Elliot Forbes scoring the fourth as thick fog descended.

Darlington put together a good move on 4 minutes when Will Hatfield found Scott Barrow on the left, and Cedric Main couldn’t quite get on the end of his cross.

Scarborough won the first corner on 5 minutes on the left, but Jameson punched the inswinger away.

Quakers won their first corner on 7 minutes , but Kelly’s corner was headed away by the Scarborough defence.

In Quakers next attack, Kelly had a long range effort saved by Ryan Whitley. Matty Cornish and Kallum Griffiths then combined well on the right for Griffiths to cross towards the far post, but Kelly couldn’t get much of a contact on the ball.

Quakers took the lead on 12 minutes with a great move down the right hand side. Cornish played the ball inside for Main to pull back, for Hatfield to come running in and sidefoot into the bottom corner, his seventh goal of the season.

But Scarborough levelled with a gift on 19 minutes, when the Darlington tried to play the ball out from the back, and Forbes played the ball back to Jameson, who was out of his goal, and the ball went into the empty net.

Scarborough nearly went 2-1 up when Harry Green cut inside and hit a right foot shot that Jameson fisted away.

But Quakers went down the other end and Kelly hit a low right foot shot that Whitley beat away at full stretch

Quakers went 2-1 down on 33 minutes. Scarborough defender Jack Waldron won the ball on the half way line, raced forward, beat a couple of players and got to the corner of the box, where he crossed the ball to the far post, where the ball sailed over Jameson into the net.

It was 2-2 on 39 minutes when Kelly worked his way in from the left and played a 1-2 with Main before sidestepping a defender and firing into the bottom corner.

Half time 2-2

Quakers had an early chance at the start of the second half when Kelly found Griffiths on the right, and Main headed the full back’s cross over the bar from six yards

Quakers went 3-2 up on 51 minutes. Kelly played a great ball out to the right for Cornish to make ground, find Griffiths who crossed into the middle for Main to have an effort blocked, and there was Kelly on the spot to steer the ball into the bottom corner.

As the fog got thicker Quakers made it 4-2 on 56 minutes. Quakers won a corner on the right, which was floated over to the far post where Toby Lees rose above everybody to head past Whitley.

Despite the fog and everyone wondering if the game would continue, the fast pace of the game didn't relent and in one Scarborough counter attack, Flint got back well to stop the visitors getting into the penalty area in a 2 v 2 situation.

Jack Maskell came on for Jack Lambert on 67 minutes, then Tom Platt replaced Cornish on 75 minutes.

Scarborough caused a late scare when Alfie King netted with a 25 yarder that left Jameson stranded but Quakers held on for their seventh unbeaten game.
