Darlington had to settle for a draw in their north east derby against South Shields.
They took the lead with a good goal by Jack Maskell, but Shields levelled before half time, and the result means that they can't finish any better than tenth.

Paul Blackett put the ball in the net in the fourth minute, but the assistant’s flag went up for offside.
Quakers won the first corner on 5 minutes , Matty Cornish floated the ball over to the far side of the area where Jack Maskell’s header was blocked.
The home side had their first chance on 6 minutes when former South Shields player Blair Adams crossed to the far post, and Matty Cornish, under pressure, headed wide.
Quakers took the lead on 8 minutes. Cedric Main won possession on the edge of the Shields box, and passed the ball into the area for Jack Maskell to neatly lift over the advancing keeper for his ninth goal of the season.
Quakers won a corner on the left three minutes later, but Louis Storey couldn’t quite direct his header towards goal.
Shields nearly levelled on 12 minutes when Paul Blackett found space about 25 yards out and hit a right foot shot towards the bottom left corner, but Peter Jameson pushed the ball around the post.
The game evened itself out after that, with both sides trying to do their best on a bumpy pitch, and when Shields created a chance, Iestyn Hughes put a right foot shot over the top on 29 minutes.
Shields then had two corners in the space of a minute, both from the right, the second of which Jameson punched away.
But Shields were soon back again, and Hughes forced Jameson into a good side down to his left.
From the inswinging corner Blackett glanced the ball towards goal, but the ball was stopped on the line by Will McGowan.
Shields levelled after 35 minutes when MacKenzie Heaney controlled the ball on the right and chipped the ball over the Darlington defence for Will Jenkins to beat Jameson.
Quakers had a chance to regain the lead when McGowan cut inside from the right, beat one defender, but Seymour blocked his effort, and then Griffiths surged forward but couldn’t get any power behind his effort and Seymour saved.

Shields nearly went in front on the hour, when Heaney’s cross from the right was touched away by Jameson, but Jenkins kept the ball in and chipped the ball towards the far post, but the ball drifted wide.
Quakers made their first sub on 67 minutes, Sam Hetherington coming on for McGowan, then Cameron Salkeld came on for Cornish
Jameson then had to be alert to palm away a free kick by Heaney that he whipped in from the left hand side.
Shields had a great chance to win it on 82 minutes when a good through ball sent Blackett away, but Storey just managed to get back, forcing him to check, and Blackett put the ball wide.
They had another opening when Jenkins found space on the edge of the area, but he pulled his effort wide.
In the fina minute, Quakers won a free kick on the right, and the ball came out to Hatfield, whose shot took a slight deflection and ended up in the hands of Seymour.
