πŸ”₯ Match Preview

Darlo look to bounce back after a disappointing result away in Wales against Merthyr Town on Saturday when they return home to Blackwell Meadows, to face another newly promoted team, Worksop Town, on Tuesday night.

At Blackwell Meadows this season, Darlo haven’t had the best start, but they did get their first home league win last time out against Southport, so they will be looking improve the home form.

November will be an important and long month with games coming thick and fast, with another six league games as well as a trip to FC United of Manchester in the FA Trophy. A strong rest of the month could do wonders for the Quakers as the National League North is a tight league with only a difference of seven points currently between Darlington and 6th placed Buxton

Darlington’s opponents, Worksop, have had a respectable start to the season for a newly promoted team and are 14th in the league on 18 points and come into this game after a late win against Scarborough, thanks to a goal from former Quaker Liam Hughes in the 88th minute.

The Tigers' away form hasn’t been strong, and they are 18th in away form in the league with two wins and five losses in seven games on the road. They’ve struggled to score when not at Sandy Lane, with only eight goals scored away from home and 13 goals conceded.

This will be the first time the two clubs have met.

πŸ‘€ Player Spotlight

Aaron Martin is one of the experienced attacking threats, having scored six goals this season, but hasn’t featured in their last four matches. The last game he played in was a 3-2 victory over AFC Fylde, where he scored. He also has a brace against Spennymoor Town to his name.

As well as the aerial threat up front, they have one in defence in the form of Luke Waterfall, who was signed from Hartlepool on a free transfer in the summer. He has two goals this season and a wealth of Football League experience at clubs such as Lincoln City and Grimsby Town.

Worksop will have a few familiar faces to Darlington fans with Tommy Taylor in goal who spent three seasons with The Quakers, he has played in every game for The Tigers keeping three clean sheets. Also in the team is Joe Leesley, who had two spells at Darlo, with the most recent being the beginning of last season, when he featured five times in the league before spending most of the season on loan at Worksop. He has registered five assists already this season. One of the options up top is the already mentioned Liam Hughes, who spent the 18/19 season at Darlo, when he made 21 appearances, scoring one goal against York City in a 5-1 win for The Quakers on Boxing Day. This season, he is the Tigers' top goalscorer with seven goals to his name already.
