Darlington Women at home to Stockton on Sunday
By Ray Simpson

Up against the second placed club
After two weekends without a game, Darlington FC Women are back in action this Sunday as they welcome second placed Stockton Town to the Eastbourne Community Stadium.
The two sides have met 5 times competitively in the past, with Darlington winning 4 of those games and last seasons quarter final finishing 1-1, with Darlington going through 4-2 on penalties.
In the 2020/21 season, Darlington won 5-3 away with Sophie Curle scoring 4 and Emma Doudican getting on the scoresheet. They followed that up with a 7-1 win at
home with Curle bagging another hat-trick, Doudican netting a brace and Dagnall and Whitworth getting a goal a piece.
Last season, Darlington won the game 6-3 at home with Lucy Charlton getting a hat-trick and Ryan and Raine getting the other goals. Whereas it was 6-1 away and Hattie Raine’s turn to score a hat-trick in the same fixture, with Ellis, Dagnall and Wilkinson scoring the other 3 goals.
Stockton Town are a different force this season and will be looking for their first points against the Quaker Women. 1 point separates the sides with Stockton on 30 points and Darlington on 29. Stockton have played 13, only losing 3 times, twice to league leaders Birtley Town. Whereas as Darlington have played 15, winning 9 games, losing 4 and drawing 2.
A win for Darlington could see them take Stockton’s place in the table and move up to 2nd and a win for Stockton would keep them in 2nd place and widen the gap to Pools Youth and Darlington in 3rd and 4th.
A big game for both teams which should be an entertaining watch. Get yourself down to Eastbourne to cheer on the Quaker Women.
