Darlington Women in FA Cup action
By Ray Simpson
Away to Fylde
This weekend Darlington are on their travels as they make the trip to Preston to take on AFC Fylde Women in the FA Cup Third Round Qualifying.
Darlington have been victorious in the previous two qualifying rounds with wins over GT7 Ladies F.C and Whitehaven AFC Ladies. They have also won 3 of their first 4 league games so have had a decent start to the season.
AFC Fylde Women play in the FA Women’s National League which is 3 tiers above Darlington. They’ve just entered the FA Cup at this round. In the league, which our neighbours Middlesbrough F.C are top of, Fylde currently sit at the bottom of the table, winning 1 game in 7, drawing 1 and losing 5. They have also recently departed company with their first team managers.
It is sure to be a massive test for the Quaker Women, but one they will relish and will travel to Fylde in the hope that they can cause an upset and make it into the First Round Proper of the FA Cup for the first time in the clubs history.
Kick off is the normal time of 2pm. We will hugely appreciate any travelling support this Sunday. Please note that Fylde is a cash only ground
