DJ: We have a big opportunity to climb the table

Programme notes from the Worksop game
Here are David Johnston's programme notes for last night's game against Worksop.
Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to the game.
We have a big opportunity to climb the table now with four home games coming up in the next five in the league.
I thought we played well against Southport in our last home game, and the players showed some great character to make sure of victory after we had a man sent off. Everyone defended well in the last half hour and made sure that we held on to the points.
We were unfortunate not to get something at Merthyr last Saturday, even though we played most of the game with ten men. We were really getting back into the game at 2-1 in the second half, buy they scored the next goal to get the points, although there were a couple of talking points in the game.
As we’ve said before, our problem is a lack of consistency, but hopefully we can get into a groove now and get some wins under our belts.
Before the Southport game, we had an injury to Peter Jameson to consider, so Steve and Terry contacted Leeds and brought in Darryl Ombang, and then the opportunities arose to bring in Paddy McLaughlin and Max Howells on loan, which we managed to sort before the Friday 5pm deadline. We’d like to thank all the clubs involved for helping us at such short notice. Darryl has caps for England Under 17s, just like Matty Young whom we got from Sunderland on loan, and is now playing regularly for Salford in the Football League. He certainly impressed, as did Max who scored our second goal, and Paddy who held the midfield together thanks to his experience.
Our new third yellow kit which incorporates the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway has gone down well, and now we’re looking at the designs for next season, so hopefully we’ll be in a position to make an announcement about them in the New Year
Finally, I would like to welcome everyone from Worksop for their first ever visit to Blackwell Meadows this evening, and a warm welcome back to our former players Liam Hughes, Tommy Taylor and Joe Leesley. I’d also like to congratulate Tommy on the news that he is now a proud father of a baby boy.
Enjoy the game
