DJ's programme notes from the Spennymoor game

What the CEO had to say

Here are DJ's programme notes from the Spennymoor game at the weekend

Good afternoon, everyone, and welcome to the game.

We come into this game against our neighbours on the back of a great win against Peterborough Sports in midweek, which made it three straight home wins in the league, and four wins in five league games for us.

The players worked very hard on Tuesday night and played some good football to put us 4-1 up at half time, and they managed the game well in the second half.

There was a break in play before half time caused by one of the floodlights going off, which we believe was caused by a faulty component in the base of the floodlight. We are now working with the rugby club to rectify the problems and avoid any further issues.

We heard some good news from Will Hatfield earlier in the week, that his ACL operation has been a success, and he can start the road to recovery.

I think it was a shock for everybody concerned that Will had damaged his ACL against Telford, and it shows how much he is valued at the club by the large number of messages he received wishing him all the best.

The club has supported Will during this period and we will continue to do so during his rehab. Hopefully if all goes well, he will be back in time for pre-season training next year. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing him as a spectator at our games.

You may have read that the National League has appointed Phil Alexander as its new Chief Executive Officer.

I’ve got to know Phil through my work on the National League Board, and we see him as the person to take the League up to the next level.

There is a huge amount going on with the league at the moment – the 3Up campaign, commercial agreements, the DAZN television deal for example – and Phil’s experience gained in the Premier League and EFL is going to be invaluable. He spent over 20 years at Crystal Palace, and just three years ago was named Premier League CEO of the Year, so he has plenty of knowledge as to how football works.

Finally, I would to welcome everyone from Spennymoor this afternoon, and hope they have a safe journey home.
