Darlington returned to action this weekend with a victory away to Hyde United, 3-1. Lee Gaskell scored his second hat-trick for the club in a victory which kept the Quakers in fifth place in the league table.

Blyth Spartans have an eight point lead at Christmas after coming from two goals down in dramatic fashion to beat Stourbridge, 4-3. Stuart Pierpoint and Justin Richards put the visitors in control, but Sean Reid and Robbie Dale levelled for Blyth. However, Stourbridge were ahead once again thanks to Karl Hawley’s strike just before half-time. Stephen Turnbull equalised for Blyth from the penalty spot, before Alex Nicholson won the game for Spartans deep into stoppage time.

Nantwich Town stay in second placed after a comfortable win away to Grantham Town, 3-0. Matthew Bell, Joshua Hancock and Sean Cooke scored the goals in the second half.

Workington are only behind Nantwich on goal difference after continuing their good form with victory at Barwell. Kyle May scored the only of the game in the 65th minute.

Salford were also victorious, as they won away at Rushall Olympic, 3-2. Richard Allen and James Poole put Salford in control, before Jake Heath pulled one back for the hosts. Jordan Hulme regained the Ammies two goal cushion and they were able to hold on for the victory despite Malachi Lavell-Moore pulling one back for Rushall late on.

Ashton United are only a point outside the play-offs after a victory at Skelmersdale United. Adam Morning and Joe Connor put Ashton 2-0 up, they held to win despite a goal from Robert McIntosh in the final quarter of an hour.

Ilkeston are seventh despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Marine.

Halesowen Town dropped points at home to Frickley Athletic. Nathaniel Waite gave the hosts the lead early in the second half, but Bradley Grayson earned a point for Frickley with ten minutes to go.

Buxton moved up to ninth with a comfortable victory at home to Mickleover Sports. The visitors took the lead through Anthony Griffiths, but a Liam Hardy hat-trick and a goal from Bradley Barraclough saw Buxton come out on top 4-1.

The bottom two sides held each other, as Ramsbottom United and Stamford played out a 1-1 draw. Shelton Payne put Ramsbottom ahead from the penalty spot, only for Elliot Hodge to level two minutes later.

Colwyn Bay remain in the relegation zone after being beaten, 4-1, at home by Matlock Town. Joel Purkiss and Laurite Wilson had the visitors 2-0 ahead inside the first quarter of an hour. John Marsden pulled a goal back for the Welsh side, but Edward Cribley and Niall McManus sealed the victory for Matlock.

Whitby Town also stay in the bottom four after a 1-0 defeat at home against Sutton Coldfield Town, Jordan Goddard with the only goal just before half-time.

The league is packed with festive fixtures, as the Quakers face two local rivals this weekend. First on Boxing Day we host Whitby Town at Heritage Park, before travelling to Blyth Spartans two days later.
