Darlington won both their games this week to move up to second place in the league table. On Saturday the side won 3-0 away to Halesowen Town thanks to goals from Graeme Armstrong, Kevin Burgess and Stephen Thompson. They followed this up with another win, 2-1, against Ramsbottom United with Nathan Cartman and Alan White scoring.

The Quakers are second in the table, just a point behind league leaders Blyth Spartans.

Blyth remains top of the table after picking up six points from their latest two games. At the weekend they won a seven goal thriller at home to Stamford, 4-3. Alex Nicholson opened the scoring for Blyth, but goals from Cameron Powell and Ryan Robbins put Stamford 2-1 ahead. Star striker Robbie Dale went on to claim a hat-trick for Blyth with Gregory Smith scoring the other goal for Stamford.

Blyth then picked up a huge victory away to Salford City on Tuesday night. The Ammies had been reduced to ten men and Spartans grabbed all the points in stoppage time thanks to an Arran Wearmouth winner.

Salford had earlier in the week won 1-0 away to Barwell with the goal coming from Jordan Hulme. However, Salford end the week in sixth place in the table five points behind league leaders Blyth.

Buxton are third despite a 3-2 home defeat to Stourbridge on Saturday. Buxton twice led through Liam Hardy and Thomas Buckley. However, Chris Lair, Stuart Pierpoint and Karl Hawley secured the points for Stourbridge.

Buxton returned to winning ways on Tuesday at Stamford. Hardy scored twice, along with goals from Bradley Barraclough and Brad Gascoigne in a 4-2 win for Buxton, Greg Smith and Daniel Clements the scorers for the hosts.

Nantwich Town are fourth after picking up four points this week. They twice came from behind at Whitby Town to earn a 3-3 draw.  Michael Roberts and Matthew Waters had given Whitby the lead on two occasions, but Lewis Short, Sam Hall and Matthew Kosylo turned the game in Nantwich’s favour. However, Adam Gell would earn a point with just two minutes to go for Whitby.

Nantwich were then involved in another high scoring game at home to Colwyn Bay on Tuesday night. Robert Hopley gave the Welsh side the lead, before goals from Elliot Osborne, Josh Hancock and Stephen Jones saw Nantwich take control. An own-goal from Ben Harrison gave the hosts a late scare, but Nantwich were able to hold on for the victory, 3-2.

Frickley Athletic sit in the final play-off place after two wins this week. On Saturday they won 2-0 at Colwyn Bay, with the goals coming from Jacob Hazel and Macaulay Parkinson.  They added to this with a 3-1 victory against Ilkeston on Tuesday night. Zephaniah Thomas scored a hat-trick for Frickley inside the first half an hour before Jack Blake pulled a late goal back for Ilkeston.

Barwell are only a point off the top five after winning at Stourbridge on Monday night. Chris Lait gave the hosts the lead after five minutes. However, Barwell turned the game around with two goals from Brady Hickey and one from Anthony Carney. Kayelden Brown pulled one back for Stourbridge, but Barwell held on for the victory, 3-2.

Like Barwell, Skelmersdale United sit only a point off the play-off positions. On Saturday they won 3-2 at home to Matlock Town. Daniel Mitchley, Christopher Almond and Louis Corrigan scored in a ten minute spell for the hosts, with Danny Holland and Edward Cribley scoring for Matlock.

Skelmersdale could have been as high as third after Tuesday night, but they lost 2-1 at Mickleover Sports. Charlie Dawes gave Mickleover the lead on 74 minutes, with Kenneth Strickland levelling for Skelmersdale just two minutes later. Mickleover would snatch the win in injury-time though with Andrew Dales the scorer.

Matlock Town are in ninth place, but lost twice this week. Their second defeat coming at home to Halesowen Town on Tuesday, 3-0. Keyon Reffell, Gregory Pearson and Aaron Griffiths scoring for the visitors.

Last years second placed finishers, Workington, are climbing the table and round out the top ten places. They earned a 1-1 draw at Rushall Olympic at the weekend. Luke Benbow had given Rushall the lead, with Scott Allison earning a point for Workington inside the final ten minutes.

Workington then beat Darlington’s next opponents, Hyde United, 2-0. Joseph McGee scored both the goals either side of half-time.

At the other end of the table Ramsbottom United remain at the bottom. Before their loss at Heritage Park they were defeated 1-0 at home by Sutton Coldfield Town. Justin Richards scoring the only goal inside the final quarter of an hour.

Grantham Town are second bottom and without a win, but they have two games in hand on all those around them.  Their only game this week was a 0-0 draw at home to Marine.

Whitby Town are struggling in 21st place, which was not helped by a 2-0 defeat at Ashton United on Tuesday. Chris Baguley and Aaron Burns scored the goals for the home side. Earlier in the week Ashton United had drawn 1-1 away to Ilkeston. An own goal had given Ilkeston the lead, before Baguley netted for Ashton.

Elsewhere, Hyde United lost at home to Mickleover Sports, 1-0, Anthony Griffiths with the goal.

The final game of the week saw Marine and Rushall Olympic share the points in a 1-1 draw. Llloyd Ellams gave Marine the lead before Jack Duggan levelled.
