Evo-Stik Week 21 Round-Up
Here's Simon Hahn's weekly EvoStik round up Darlington lost top spot in the league this week, after our game away to Padiham was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Salford overtook us at the top of the league after an impressive victory away at Bamber Bridge. Salford were 2-0 up inside twenty minutes thanks to goals from Daniel Webber and Sam Madeley. Alisatair Waddecar pulled a goal back after the break, however Salford were able to hold on for the victory 2-1. They are now three points ahead of the Quakers, but we do have four games in hand on Salford.
Northwich Victoria missed their chance to go top of the table after they lost to ten-man Spennymoor Town. Defender Joe Tait opened the scoring in the first ten minutes for the Brewers from the penalty spot minutes following a foul on Nathan Fisher. However, Tait was then sent off before half time. Aboubacar Sanogo levelled for Northwich on the hour mark, but Michael Roberts snatched an unlikely winner for Spennymoor in stoppage time. Spennymoor, themselves, are still in the promotion picture lying just five points outside the playoffs with games in hand.
Droylsden stay in fourth, despite a shock defeat away to Clitheroe. Cory Bent gave Clitheroe the lead, however Adam Morning levelled for Droylsden on the stroke of half time. Seydou Bamba regained the lead for Clitheroe, however Morning once again levelled for the visitors. Clitheroe though claimed all the points, when Louis Mayers won the game two minutes from time, with Clitheroe winning 3-2.
Scarborough stay behind Droylsden on goal difference after they also lost at the weekend. James Beadle gave the Seadogs the lead away to Ossett Albion, before goals from Nicholas Matthews and Dominic Riodrdan turned the game around. Ross Hardaker completed a 3-1 victory for Albion ten minutes into the second half.
Farsley remain in a playoff place after a comfortable home victory over Radcliffe Borough. Adam Priestley gave the home side the lead in the first half, before two further goals from Spencer Harris sealed a 3-0 victory for Farsley.
Harrogate RA’s playoff push was halted away to Warrington Town, as they were held to a 0-0 draw.
Mid-table sides Mossley and Burscough held each other to a draw at the weekend. Burscough took a first half lead through Paul Williams, however the hosts earned a 1-1 draw thanks to a goal from Kyle McGonigle.
Kendal Town earned a dramatic late win at home to Ossett Town, 3-2. Chris Wood gave Ossett the lead, with Aaron Helliwell making it 1-1 at half-time. Ossett regained the lead through Samuel Akeroy, before two late goals, first a strike from Ruairidh Winters and an own goal in the final minute won the game for Kendal.
The final game of the week saw third bottom Prescot Cables host second bottom New Mills. The visitors took the lead through Warren Gaskin, before James McCulloch levelled for Prescot. Goals from James Kirby and Daniel Douglas-Pringle gave New Mills a 3-1 lead, but McCulloch pulled one back before Jack Phillips made the final score 3-3 in stoppage time.
This coming weekend, if the weather allows, we host Prescot Cables, while league leaders Salford City host sixth place Farsley.
