EvoStik Round Up - Week 16
Simon Hahn brings us his weekly round up Unfortunately this week we did not have a game due to a waterlogged pitch at Heritage Park, which meant our fixture with Lancaster City was postponed.
Spennymoor Town progressed into the first round proper of the FA Trophy after they overcame Chasetown at the weekend. Gavin Cogden, Nathan Fisher and Shane Henry all scored in the first half for The Brewers as they won the tie convincingly 3-0.
Back in the league Salford City moved into second place with a victory at home to Burscough. Sam Madeley scored the only goal of the game early in the second half for the Ammies. They are level on points with Darlington, however they have played one game more.
Droylsden moved up a place, into third, as they comfortably beat struggling Prescot Cables. Andrew Fowler and Ciaran Kilheeney both scored in the first five minutes for The Bloods, however Prescot got back into the games thanks to Robert Doran. Adam Morning made it 3-1 before half time, with Fowler grabbing his second of the game late on to make the final score 4-1.
Northwich Victoria slipped to fourth after defeat at in form Harrogate RA. Northwich had taken the lead through Michael Roddy, but the league’s top scorer Nathan Cartman levelled on the stroke of half-time for Harrogate. Lawrence Hunter was the match winner for the hosts just eight minutes into the second half, with Harrogate coming away with a 2-1 victory. Northwich remain two points behind the Quakers while Harrogate climb into ninth place.
Farsley are now only four points off top spot after a victory at Kendal Town. Lewis Nightingale scored two penalties in the second half to put the visitors in control, before Adam Priestley completed a 3-0 victory for Farsley just before full time.
Bamber Bridge won a dramatic game at home to New Mills to keep themselves in touch with the top five. Daniel Caldecott had appeared to have won the game for New Mills when he opened the scoring with quarter of an hour to go. However, two goals in stoppage time stole the points for Bamber Bridge. Andrew Bell levelled with Stuart Vasey scoring the winner as the hosts won 2-1.
Scaborough Athletic won away to bottom of the table Padiham, 3-0, to stay within five points of the playoff positions. Alex Peterson and James Beadle both scored in the first half for the Seadogs. Ryan Blott completed the scoring just before full time, as Scarborough stay in seventh place.
Mossley picked up a victory at Clitheroe, Andrew Keogh scoring the only goal of the game in the 50th minute to keep Mossley in eighth place.
Brighouse Town moved up a couple of places following a 2-1 victory over Ossett Town. Ernest Boafo scored early in the game to give Brighouse the lead, before Chris Wood levelled from the penalty spot for Ossett. However Brighouse snatched the win right at the end of the game when Chris Fisher scored two minutes from time.
The final game of the week saw Warrington Town warm up for their FA cup game with an easy victory away to Ossett Albion. Lee Gaskell opened the scoring for the Wire before further strikes from Thomas Hardwick and Louis Corrigan saw the game finish 3-0.
This weekend, weather permitting, we travel to New Mills. Warrington travel to Gateshead in the FA Cup. While in the league Droylsden go to Radcliffe Borough, Salfords trip to Ossett Town has already been postponed.
