A second half header  by skipper Kevin Burgess deservedly gave Quakers a point at the Shay Stadium

They conceded an early goal, but Josh Gillies cleverly pulled Quakers level and they were denied the half time lead by two good saves from Halifax keeper Sam Johnson.

Halifax regained the lead through Adam Morgan -- his fourth goal against Quakers in a week -- but captain Kev equalised with a header.

There are interviews with Sean Gregan (who was in charge of the team as Martin Gray was getting married), Nathan Cartman, Stephen Thompson and Kevin Burgess following on the website, and of course the video highlights.

Quakers were on the defensive in the first 30 seconds. Josh MacDonald got away down the right and crossed to the far post where Adam Morgan put in a looping header that Kevin Burgess headed off the line.

But Quakers caused a scare at the other end when Nathan Cartman challenged Sam Johnson, and the keeper’s clearance deflected away off the striker.

Halifax took the lead after 14 minutes when Morgan got away down the left, and fired across Jameson into the net.

They nearly got a second when Jameson punched a right wing corner to the edge of the box from where Danny Clarke fired over the top.

Quakers nearly levelled on 20 minutes when Stephen Thompson made a good diagonal run towards the Halifax box and hit a right foot shot that Johnson parried, and Cartman couldn’t turn in the rebound.

From the corner that followed, the ball was cleared out as far as Leon Scott, who got to the ball first and hit a right foot shot that Johnson parried.

Quakers deservedly levelled on 22 minutes when Josh Gillies ran at the Halifax defence, and as the defender backed off, he rolled the ball left footed past Johnson into the corner of the net for his eighth league goal of the season. 1-1!

Halifax nearly regained the lead on 27 minutes when Peniket got past Marrs down the left, pulled the ball back into the middle for Tom Denton to touch towards goal, but Gary Brown got back to clear off the line.

But Quakers had a chance to go back in front on 32 minutes when Terry Galbraith curled a corner over from the right for Burgess to head over.

However, Halifax had another chance when Morgan got away down the right and put the ball into the box for MacDonald to pull wide.

Half time 1-1

Quakers were awarded a free kick 30 yards out in a central position after 54 minutes, but Galbraith fired over the bar.

Quakers nearly took the lead on the hour. Cartman broke down the right on the end of a Thompson pass, crossed into the six yard box where Beck got a good connection, but somehow the ball hit the keeper and dropped onto the roof of the net.

Quakers were caught out from the corner that followed. Halifax broke quickly through Morgan and he got to the edge of the Darlington box before hitting a left foot shot into the top corner -- the fourth goal he has scored against Quakers in two games.

But Quakers levelled on 68 minutes when Galbraith curled a corner over from the right for Burgess to head in at the far post.

And Quakers nearly went in front when Galbraith broke up the left exchanged passes with Cartman and struck a powerful shot that was blocked for a corner.

Galbraith nearly scored a dramatic goal on 85 minutes when Beck nodded down a Jameson free kick for him to hit full on the volley but just over the bar.

Josh Gillies went off with a dislocated shoulder near the end of the game, but his shoulder was put back into place by the physio.

Manager Martin Gray kept in touch with the game -- he delivered his team talk on the bus before the team set off -- and on the final whistle said to Ray Simpson; "We're delighted with a point, it was a good performance by the lads."
