First game for Academy today
By Ray Simpson
Opponents are FC Halifax
The Academy’s season in the National League Football Academy North begins on Wednesday with a home game against Halifax.
The game is behind closed doors.
Academy director Tony McMahon is eagerly looking forward to the first game after three weeks in charge, and said; “I’m delighted with the way it’s gone so far.
“The lads have worked hard for three weeks and taken everything on board – I couldn’t be more pleased with their attitude and the way they’ve approached training.
“One of my long term goals is to get them near the first team, and some of the lads have been included in the squad for the friendly games at Scarborough, Middlesbrough and Fleetwood, which has given the other lads plenty of encouragement.
“Alun has also been working with them, and the lads have all responded to him, which is great.
“I’m really looking forward to see how these lads perform.”
The other clubs in our division are: AFC Fylde, Boston, Chester, Chesterfield, FC Halifax, Gateshead, Guiseley, Solihull, Stockport, York City.
