Getting Shirty

Craig Stoddart continues our series with a look back at the shirt for the 2003-04 season.

The black and white striped home shirt during this season might have been a shocker, but the yellow and black away kit was a decent effort.

Yellow and red appear as Quakers’ away colours more than any other, and this was a more bearable shade of yellow than the previous kit of this hue used three years previously.

However, it was worn during an embarrassing FA Cup defeat at non-league Hornchurch, a day when it was worn with white shorts and socks.

It was meant to be worn with black shorts, but they didn’t last long as the white away shorts from 2001-02 were retrieved from the kit room before the season ended with yellow shorts being used. But, as can be seen from the picture on this page, they weren’t quite the same shade as the shirt.
