Former Darlo player passes away

Harry Clark

The club is very sad to learn about the passing of our former player Harry Clark.

Harry, who was 88, made his debut for us in the away game at Bradford City on Boxing Day 1950, and went on to score 27 goals in 143 matches for us, before joining Sheffield Wednesday.  He also played for South Shields.

Harry was known as “young” Harry Clark, so then he wasn’t confused with another Darlington player, Harry Clarke, who was also a forward. He was one of our guests at our Farewell to Feethams celebrations in 2003.

He was also a keen cricketer, playing for Darlington CC while not playing football, and a keen golfer, regularly playing at Darlington Golf Club into his 80s.

We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
