Youth Team Weekly Roundup

Here are this weekend's youth teams results:

Here's a round up of how our youth teams fared last weekend in the Russell Foster Youth League, Junior Premier League and Teesside Junior Football Alliance League.

Because of FA rules, we're unable to publish the results of any matches involving Under 11s and below.

Saturday 5th February 2022:

RFYL Girls U10 Second Division:

Hartlepool FC Vs. Darlington FC

POTM: Scarlett & Hettie

Team Coach Natalie Peart said; "The girls were up against it at a windy Washington against league winners Hartlepool. The girls knew it was going to be a tough game as we had no goalkeeper and a couple other players missing. The girls started of strong and managed to get an early goal. However, Hartlepool reacted very well and dominated the rest of the game. The scoreline didn’t reflect the girls efforts as every single one of them put 100% effort in".

RFYL Girls U16 Premier Division:

Stockton Town FC 0-1 Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Livia L

POTM: Lily L

Team Coach Scott Buckton said; "Today saw us play another game in very windy conditions. The first half saw us play with the wind and we managed to capitalise scoring the opening goal of the game. We went in 1-0 up at half time, but could have been a lot more comfortable if we had taken our chances. The second half was a different story as Stockton dominated possession. The girls put on a masterclass defensive performance and our keeper made a number of amazing saves to keep us ahead and make it 5 out of 5 wins for 2022".

RFYL Boys U7 Red Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Roseberry Park FC

Team Coach James Kelay said; "The lads battled well today in awful windy conditions. The lads went 1-0 down but pushed on in the second half and got their reward with a minute to go to rescue a point".

RFYL Boys U9 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Easington FC

Goalscorers: Jay Brydon, Jude Nicholson & Jake Johnson

Team Coach Sam Pascoe said; "The boys started strong and found themselves 1-0 up inside 6 minutes through Jay Brydon. A lovely well worked goal involving midfielders Oliver Rand and Isaac Tonge was then finished emphatically by Jay Brydon. A second goal followed after a great bursting run from defence by Jay Brydon ended up in a shot by Jake Johnson being parried by the away keeper and fell perfectly for striker Jude Nicholson to finish Cooly. The boys went in at half time 2-0 up and could have made it a lot more comfortable if they had been more composed in front of goal. The boys took their foot of the the gas in the second half and Easington found themselves back in the game after scoring directly from a free kick from distance. Shortly after, Easington were presented with a 1 on 1 opportunity but Darlo keeper Charlie Reay came out quick and pulled off a crucial save to keep Darlo in the lead. Late in the game, Jake Johnson sealed the win for the boys with a great left Footed volley. The lads go into their game next week against Hebburn only needing 1 point to clinch the title".

TJFA Girls U13 Division One:

TIBS FC 6-0 Darlington FC Feethams

POTM: Sophie Bowden

Team Coach Mick Walton said; "Today we travelled to TIBs who sit at the top of the league whilst also being unbeaten so far this season. The first 20 minutes was very tight until the girls were caught out by a long ball and TIBS capitalised. We were hit with a couple injuries in the first half and we found ourselves 3-0 down at half time. The girls battled on in the second half with just ten players available including our goalkeeper playing outfield. Tired legs kicked in and we went on to lose the game 6-0 but the girls never gave up and left everything on the pitch".

JPL Boys U13 League:

Qualitas FC 0-6 Darlington FC

Goalscorers: Ryder Maughan, Niall Armstrong, Ellis Chessworth (2), Paddy Key & Laylan Donnachie

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "On a poor pitch and conditions that become unfavourable as the game went on the boys played some good passing football. The boys looked solid all over the pitch and we scored some well worked goals".

JPL Boys U14 League:

Darlington FC 4-2 Brooklyn FC

Goalscorers: Leon Griffith (2), Jesse Nelson & Cody Rucroft

POTM: Kalvin Friend

Team Coach Michael Eggleston said; "A really scrappy game but we managed to grind out a result. The lads worked hard all game but the quality wasn’t always there. Delighted to continue our winning streak though, which now stands at 7 in a row".

Sunday 6th February 2022

TJFA Boys U8 Premier Division:

Darlington FC Vs. Leven FC

Goalscorers: Frankie Robertson, Edward Harrison & Archie Parker

POTM: Frankie Robertson

Team Coach Paul Robertson said; "Lads weren't at the best today but got the result in the end".

TJFA Boys U9 Premier Division:

Boro Rangers Blues Vs. Darlington FC Development

Goalscorers: Jude Nicholson (2), Isaac Tonge, Thom Burnham, Jay Brydon & Jake Johnson

Team Coach Lee Childs said; "A truly brilliant performance from the team this morning with a thread bare squad due to Covid and our captain on trial at SAFC. The lads played some outstanding football yet again and took the opportunity to go top of their league by winning their game in hand. We started quickly going ahead after 3 minutes and remained in total control all of the way through the game. Tiredness kicked in towards the end of the game after playing twice in two days and we let in two goals. We are very proud of these boys, they have now gone 31 games this season without defeat, (winning 28 in the process). They are unbeaten in both leagues and have booked their place in the cup semi final".

TJFA Boys U9 Division 2:

Darlington FC Foundation Vs. Boro Rangers Reds FC

Goalscorers: James Ward (3) & Maks Konczynski

Team Coach Chris Blewitt said; "An exceptional team performance against a very strong Boro Rangers team. DFC controlled the game from kick off, pressing hard and never letting Boro Rangers settle. Two quick fire goals came from James to great work in midfield from Stevie-Lee, winning the ball back high before rolling the ball in to James feet to slot the ball in to the bottom corner. Boro Rangers pulled one back on the stroke of half time, counter attacking with pace and very much against the run of play. James sealed his hat trick after pouncing on a loose clearance and getting the better of the keeper in a 1v1. The final goal of the game was worth the wait with Maks picking the ball up outside of the box, making a neat turn to beat his marker and open his body up before unleashing a low drive in to the opposite corner".

Boys U13 County Cup Semi-Final

Seaton Carew Lions FC 0-0 Darlington FC

Team Coach Lee Hutton said; "A good game of football played by two good teams. The game had very little in it if I am honest. We had 3 or 4 really good chances during the game but didn't take them. Stockton went on to win on penalties and we would like to wish them good luck in the final".
