Darlington Wearside Youth u13s 5 Hebburn Town Under 13s 0

The first five minutes saw the ball being knocked back and forth as both teams cleared the cobwebs from their boots. Darlington youth number 14 Ryan Smirthwaite had the first attempt at goal only to have number 12 Jaxon Briggs deemed off side. However soon after on 11 minutes after a three man combination of Jaxon Briggs and Ryan Smirthwaite saw Darlington's Tommy Hunt put the ball into the Hebburn Town net. Darlington Wearside Youth 1 - Hebburn Town 0.

The re-start by Hebburn Town saw immediate pressure by the Darlington forwards and after one minute Ryan Smirthwaite again had the Hebburn Town keeper picking the ball out of the back of the net. 13 minutes. Darlington Youth 2 - Hebburn Town 0.

With a nice two goal cushion the Darlington Youth team grew in confidence with some long and short passing of the ball forward and across the pitch. However a rare Hebburn Town long ball saw the tall rangy Hepburn Town number 12 loose inside the Darlington box just in front of the goal. The Darlington keeper Alex Bates made himself BIG and with Dom Agnew and Lucas Reed bearing down the forward shot the ball well wide of the goal. No change to the scoreline.

This attempt seemed to give the Hebburn town team a bit of a spurt and for a couple of minutes they had several forays into the Darlington half/box. However these were well covered by the Darlington defence of Kieron Devlin, Dom Agnew and Lucas Reed. The Darlington number 12 Jaxon Briggs seemed to have cloned himself as he was covering so much pitch there seemed to be two of him. Battled ferociously on the right wing pulling off some great tackles, he was then on the left wing then at the back helping the defence.

Ryan Smirthwaite was a constant threat to the Hebburn Town on the right wing. Finn Illingsworth was a commanding figure in midfield. Hebburn Town had five players on the pitch who were at least 5 foot 6/ 5 foot 7. However they found the day very difficult against sheer speed and skills of the ' imps' of the Darlington team and on 31 minutes ( you guessed it) Darlington's Jaxon Briggs again found himself inside the Hebburn Town box running at the Hebburn defence. Full of confidence Briggs executed a 'Maradona spin', passed through the Hebburn defence and neatly placed the ball once again into the net. Darlington Youth 3 - Hebburn Town 0. Hebburn Town did get a corner on half time but this was headed wide. Half time saw the score: Darlington Wearside Youth 3 - Hebburn Town Blues 0.

The second half immediately saw the Darlington team on the attack with Jaxon Briggs and Darron Robertson showing their intent with the Darlington team laying siege to the Hebburn Town goal for the first four minutes of the second half. Again the Hebburn Town team made a foray into the Darlington half which was well handled by the Darlington defence which now comprised of Lucas Reed, Ryan Smirthwaite, Dom Agnew and Tommy Fletcher, confidently backed with some good handling and great distribution of the Darlington keeper Alex Bates and on 49 minutes the Darlington pressure once again showed with a half volley by Darron Robbertson being tucked away by Kieron Wakefield. Darlington Youth 4 - Hebburn Town 0.

The re- start again saw some fantastic control of the mid- field by Tommy Fletcher and Finn Illingsworth winning the ball and distributing it to the wings and a great interception by Kieron Wakefield on 32 minutes saw the number 4 slot the ball into the net from 4 yards to give him two goals for the day. This proved to be the remaining scoreline for the day with the match ending Darlington Wearside Youth 5 - Hebburn Town Blues 0.

Another well deserved victory against a Hebburn Town team which battled throughout but again the skill, tenacity and sheer pace of the Darlington team gave them another good win and another clean sheet.
