Darlington FC, a proud member of the National League North, is seeking a dedicated and passionate volunteer Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) to serve as the vital link between our fans, the club, security staff, and other key stakeholders.

The SLO will play an essential role in fostering dialogue, building relationships, promoting a positive supporter culture, and contributing to a safe and enjoyable matchday experience for all.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact at the club for supporters, managing the information flow and facilitating open and constructive dialogue between the fans and the club.
  2. Communicate club decisions and activities that affect fans and relay the points of view of fans back to the club management.
  3. Provide information to fans attending matches to facilitate their matchday experience and to prevent misunderstandings.
  4. Foster communication between fans, security officers, club officials, stewards, and police before, during, and after matches.
  5. Participate in preparatory meetings prior to home games and significant away games, providing fan perspectives and insights.
  6. Clarify fans' actions and intentions to police, stewards, and vice versa to promote understanding and cooperation.
  7. Contribute to a positive supporter culture and work proactively to encourage good behaviour and mediate potential conflict situations.
  8. Attend post-match debriefings and participate in related activities as needed.
  9. Liaise with the FA and National League as required

Requirements:

  1. Must be a part of the Darlington FC fan base, with existing contacts and established credibility.
  2. Ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders.
  3. Excellent communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills.
  4. Ability to work flexibly during matchdays, including weekends and evenings.
  5. A strong commitment to promoting a positive supporter culture and enhancing the matchday experience.
  6. Must attend home and away Darlington Fc fixtures
