Advice ahead of Saturday's game

Spennymoor Town FC, Darlington FC and Durham Constabulary have joined together ahead of Saturday’s fixture with Darlington at The Brewery Field to wish supporters of both sides an enjoyable afternoon.

Durham Constabulary will be working in partnership with both clubs to ensure that it is a safe and enjoyable event for all fans and will also be present.

“We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment at The Brewery Field,” explained Club General Manager, Ian Geldard.

“We know there have been issues in previous years, which is why have worked closely with our safety partners and with Durham Constabulary in order to ensure this event is safe, and that everyone can attend with confidence.

“We’ve taken on board a lot of feedback from supporters over recent years and have taken extra measures this year from ticketing to enhanced segregation.

“We’ve invested heavily in the fencing infrastructure to ensure improved segregation, with appropriate distance between fans, and this will be accompanied by increased matchday stewarding provided by a new safety partner.

“We continue to operate state of the art CCTV on-site to ensure there is nowhere to hide for the small number of people who may look to cause trouble.

“Games likes these are the ones that we all look forward to and we want to make sure that we look back on it for all the right reasons, so we’d appeal to all fans to help us by behaving in the right way.”

Darlington chief operating officer David Johnston said; “We would urge all Darlington fans to be on their best behaviour, and remind them that as well as being fans, they are also representatives of the club when they attend matches.

“We are looking forward to an afternoon to remember at the Brewery Field for all the right reasons.”

Saturday’s National League North meeting between Moors and The Quakers kicks-off at 1pm and is all-ticket, meaning supporters will not be able to purchase tickets on the day of the game.
