Darlington 1 AFC Fylde 1

Darlington were very unlucky not to beat the league leaders in their top of the table clash  at Heritage Park.

Here's the action courtesy of Kev

In the second half, Quakers did everything but score as they piled forward, and right at the end had a goal by the unlucky David Syers controversially disallowed for offside.

Quakers had three chances in the first 20 minutes, the best of them falling to Syers, whose header from a left wing cross by Josh Gillies from six yards out bounced down and then over the bar.

Fylde went in front with their first real attack on 27 minutes, when Danny Rowe received the ball on the corner of the box, turned, and hit a left foot shot over Peter Jameson into the top corner.

Quakers missed a good chance to level a minute later when Gillies crossed from the left, and Syers, under pressure, sidefooted wide.

Quakers kept battling away, and nearly levelled on 39 minutes. Beck was fouled 10 yards outside the box, and Gillies curled the ball towards the top right corner, where Rhys Taylor pushed the ball out for a corner.

Quakers levelled just on half time with a route one goal. Jameson cleared the ball downfield, where it went straight through the heart of the Fylde defence for Gillies to control and slip past the advancing keeper for his sixth goal of the season.

In the second half, Quakers missed a great chance to go in front, when Terry Galbraith whipped a free kick in from the right, Taylor saved at full stretch, and Syers could only bundle the ball over the top.

Quakers then forced a series of corners, and the best chance fell on 66 minutes to Syers, who headed over from ten yards.

Nothing was seen of the Fylde attack, and in the closing stages Nathan Cartman had a shot blocked by Taylor, and Syers had a goal disallowed from a Galbraith free kick, although he claimed that he was well onside.
