A late goal gave Workington the points over Quakers at Borough Park last night.
Quakers nearly took the lead in the opening minute, but a shot by Tom Portas was deflected wide.
But Workington soon had a chance at the other end, and keeper Peter Jameson pulled off a good save from Joe McGee.
Quakers were forced into a substitution on 13 minutes when Terry Galbraith went off, and was replaced by Leon Scott.
A minute later Quakers were a goal down, when a shot by McGee fell for Conor Tinnion to score with a deflected shot.
However, Quakers went straight down the other end, when Stephen Thompson crossed for Graeme Armstrong to head firmly past the keeper.
The game flowed from end to end, and Jameson pulled off another good save to stop Wayne Allison from giving Workington the lead again.
Quakers though nearly went into the lead when Adam Mitchell found space and blasted the ball against the bar, and Portas couldn’t quite get to the rebound.
Jameson made another save on 28 minutes, touching a well hit free kick by McGee over the crossbar, and a minute before the break he pushed away a long range shot by Jake Simpson.
In the second half, Thompson forced a good save out of Workington keeper Alex Mitchell, who also denied Nathan Cartman.
New signing Anthony Bell, who came on for Adam Mitchell at half time, almost gave Quakers the lead, but his shot was well saved by Alex Mitchell.
Just as it looked as if Quakers would pick up a point, Alex Salmon set up Tinnion to beat Jameson with a left foot shot from just inside the area.
