Former promotion winner passes away
We are very sad to learn about the death of our former player, Les O'Neill, at the age of 81.
Les was a member of the 1965-66 promotion-winning team making 22 appearances in the Fourth Division, and he went on to score 35 goals in 201 appearances over five years at the club.
He left us for Bradford City and then Carlisle United for whom he played in the old First Division. He famously scored the goal for Carlisle that beat Chelsea and put them on top of the First Division in August 1974.
We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Les' family and friends.
