Young prospect joins the squad
We are delighted to officially announce the signing of Lily Wilkinson, who steps up into women’s football, from our U18 Youth side.
Lily joined Darlington at the start of the season from Durham Women RTC and has been training with the squad for the last few months. Lily is an attacking player who can play anywhere across the front three and is now the sixth player to complete the progression from the youth team to the senior team.
Women's team manager Shaun MacKenzie said; "We are delighted to be able to give Lily the opportunity to sign for the women's team. We knew Lily had talent as soon as she signed for our U18s from Durham at the start of the season. I had been aware of Lily for the past few years and know she can score goals from her time with Darlington Young Bulls at youth level.
"Lily has been training with the squad for the past few months and has been working extremely hard in sessions. Lily has an eye for goal and lightning pace that will further boost our attacking options for the remainder of the season. We are looking forward to having Lily available for selection and handing out another debut for another youth player that is ready to make that step up into womens football."
