Local actress writes book in aid of children's diabetes charity

Jade Byrne writes about Type 1 diabetes

Darlington actress to release children's book for Diabetes charity
Local actress, Jade Byrne, 34, is to release her debut children’s book, ‘Daisy Donald,’ on November 14, World Diabetes Day.
Jade, from Darlington, is perhaps better known for her acting over recent years, appearing in television programmes such as Inspector George Gently, Mount Pleasant and Casualty before, penning, and now touring, her auto-biographical stage play, Pricks, an hour-long, laugh-a-minute production regarding Jade’s life as a Type 1 Diabetic.
Having been diagnosed Type 1 thirty years ago this November Jade has now toured Pricks nationally four times the pending release of ‘Daisy Donald,’ the story of a young child who wears a superhero cape to fight an invisible illness, or monster, is an extenuation of her educating people about Type 1 Diabetes, and raising both awareness, and funds, for the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) for whom she is a ‘celebrity ambassador.’
“I find that I can relate to so much,” explains Jade of her children’s story.
“I hope that other Type 1’s, or people with connections to it, will also be able to relate to that monster; I also hope people in general will pick up the book, not just those in the Type 1 community.
“I hope any child without any connections can pick it up and learn something, or a parent to pick it up and read it to their child without realising what it’s really about until they get to that part of the book and therefore have learned something new about Type 1 Diabetes, the reality of it.”
With a percentage of each sale being donated to the JDRF, ‘Daisy Donald’ will be released on November 14, further information of which will be available via Facebook https://www.facebook.com/PricksPlay/ or Twitter https://twitter.com/JadeByrne_Actor

Darlington Football Club would like to give our whole-hearted support to Jade's book, and would urge fans to buy copies of it!
