Attacking midfielder agrees new one year deal

Darlington midfielder Matty Cornish has agreed a new contract for season 2025-26, subject to FA and National League approval.

Matty joined us in January 2024, and was one of the key figures in our great escape that season, scoring six times in 18 matches.

In the season just finished, he scored another six goals in 45 appearances as he established himself in the squad.

Manager Steve Watson: "Matty will admit himself that he had a slow start last season, but in the second half of the campaign we saw the player we know he can be. He’s someone who can create and do something a bit different in the final third, and we need as many players like that as possible. We are really be looking forward to seeing Matty deliver a full season at the level he showed towards the end of last year."

Everyone at the club is delighted that Matty has agreed to stay for another season.
