Morecambe 3 Darlington 0

Attendance 2184 (395 from Darlo)

Daly 50 mins 1-0, Newby 57 mins 2-0, Buckley-Ricketts 67 mins 3-0

Darlington crashed out of the FA Cup to three second half goals at Christie Way.

Quakers were good value for their goalless draw at half time, but Morecambe’s first goal after 50 minutes put them well in control.

Quakers were already hit by injuries before the game, but two more players, Ethan Fitzhugh and Tom Bryant, went off in the second half.

Morecambe won the first corner on 3 minutes, but Ruben Curley swung the ball over too deep and the ball went out of play.

Loan signing Jacob Render showed a couple of good touches on the left to get past his man, but another defender tackled him.

Morecambe had the first half chance on 6 minutes, a speculative first time left foot shot by Elliott Newby that went over the bar.

Morecambe forced a second corner on 7 minutes which Ben Hedley cleared at the near post.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts then charged into the box on the right, but after he was challenged by Ethan Fitzhugh, fired tamely at Bobby Jones.

Quakers posed danger for the first time on 10 minutes when Ben Hedley put a good cross in and a defender hurriedly cleared with Mark Beck bearing down on him.

And they had a half chance on 14 minutes when Fitzhugh got round the back of the defence on the left, and his low cross towards Beck at the far post was just intercepted by a defender at full stretch.

Quakers had an escape on 17 minutes when Newby cut in from the left, fired a right foot shot that Bobby Jones saved at full stretch, and the ball rebounded off a Morecambe player for a goal kick.

Quakers responded with Render setting up Fitzhugh on the edge of the box, and his left foot shot was deflected wide.

Morecambe broke quickly and had a 3 on 1 in their favour, but Ciaran Thompson put in a good block inside his own area.

Quakers created a chance on 34 minutes when Ellis Stanton found Thompson on his right, and the full back put in a good cross which Beck headed against a defender a few yards out.

Morecambe went up the other end, and Lewis Leigh crossed for Paul Lewis to head at Jones, then Brad Walker turned a low cross from the left into Jones’ hands.

Quakers won a free kick on the left on 44 minutes which Hedley hoisted to the far post which Beck headed down, but nobody could get on the ball

Morecambe took the lead on 50 minutes. A cross from the left was nodded down by Buckley-Ricketts  at the far post for Matty Daly to fire low past Jones.

Before play restarted , Ethan Fitzhugh went off injured and was replaced by Sam Hetherington

The score was 2-0 on 59 minutes, when the ball was threaded for Elliot Newby to run through and lift past Jones.

There was nearly a third when Newby whipped the ball in from the left, and Buckley-Ricketts touched the ball wide

Tom Bryant and Dylan Stephenson then came on for Aidan Rutledge and Jacob Render.

Morecambe broke through again on 68 minutes, this time Buckley-Ricketts broke through and sidefooted past Jones.

Quakers nearly got one back when Beck pulled the ball back from the left for Stephenson to have a close range effort blocked by Myles Boney.

They had another chance when Stanton broke from the half way line and set up Sam Hetherington, who fired over.

Morecambe nearly got a fourth, but Teddy Collis sidefooted wide.

Max Kilsby came on for the injured Tom Bryant on 88 minutes.
