Nathan Cartman has won the EvoStik League First Division North’s player of the year award!

Nathan has been prolific for the two clubs he has played for in the league this season, Darlington and Harrogate RA, scoring 35 goals in the league, a superb return of a goal per game. He has impressed many people in the league, fans, players and managers.

Darlington manager Martin Gray said; “I have only worked with him for three months since he came from Harrogate RA, but what a talent he is. To score a total of 42 goals in all competitions for two clubs is phenomenal, no matter what level of football you play at. Hopefully, he will finish with a few more.

“He is different to other strikers in this league. He is very clever around the box, he’s got great anticipation and is a natural goalscorer. He doesn’t score very often from outside the area, but inside it he’s a natural predator. He’s got that knack of finding little pockets of space and scoring goals.

“And I think when he settles in more at Darlington, he will become more and more prolific.”

Director David Mills, who was at tonight's presentation in Barnsley, said; "Nathan thoroughly deserves his award, because he has been a great player both for ourselves and Harrogate RA this season. To score as many goals as he has takes some doing. I'm sure that he will score even more goals in the future. Everyone at the club sends their congratulations."

This is the second successive year that a Darlo player has lifted the Player of the Year award – last season Stephen Thompson was the choice.

Nathan also finished third in the EvoStik fans player of the year award, which was won by Blyth's Robbie Dale.
