National North Round-up  21/01/2020

The latest from around the league

We moved up into the playoff places with an impressive 3-0 win at home to Alfreton Town. A double from Adam Campbell and a goal from Justin Donawa left us 7th in the table.

King’s Lynn Town are in control of the title race after winning the clash between the top two as they beat York City 1-0. Adam Marriott scored the only goal in the second half which leaves the Linnets four points clear at the top with two games in hand.

Brackley are now third after a 2-1 victory at Bradford PA. Lee Ndlovu put Brackley ahead on the stroke of half time with James Armson doubling their lead in the second period. Tom Clare pulled one back in stoppage time for Park Avenue, but it was not enough.

Chester dropped one place to fourth after a 0-0 draw with Leamington and are now 12 points behind the league leaders.

Boston are fifth after a 3-1 win away to fellow playoff hopefuls Southport.  Andi Thanoj scored twice to put the Pilgrims in control before George Newell pulled one back for Port. However Luke Shiels sealed the game in the final minute for the visitors. The result saw  Southport drop to 12th.

Our next opponents on Tuesday night Guiseley are ahead of ourselves on goal difference after coming from behind to win at home to Gloucester.  Liam Daly gave the visitors a shock early lead, but goals in the final 25 minutes from Felix Kaine and Gabriel Johnson secured a 2-1 win for Guiseley.

Spennymoor dropped out of the top seven after being held to a 1-1 draw at Kidderminster. Rob Ramshaw put the Brewers ahead with Ashley chambers levelling just four minutes later for Harriers.

Gateshead and Altrincham are two of four sides just two points outside the top seven after the Heed beat Alty 2-0. An own goal gave Gateshead the lead in the 43rd minute, with victory sealed thanks to Mitchell Curry.

Farsley Celtic were shocked by Curzon Ashton who moved up to fourth bottom with a 4-0 win. Isaac Sinclair, Josh Askew, Andrew Scott and Olatunde Bayode scored the goals for the Nash.

The other two games in the league were postponed, three games take place on Tuesday night.
