Quakers paid the penalty for missing a host of chances when they were beaten 4-2 at home by Farsley.

Quakers missed some good chances in front of goal, but some questionable defending gifted their opponents the points in the second half when Quakers were 2-1 and seemingly on the way to victory.

Quakers created a chance in the second minute. Holness found space on the right side of the box and squared into the six yard area where Jarrett Rivers tried to backheel the ball in, but a defender blocked him.

Quakers had a penalty appeal turned down went Justin Donawa broke into the box and tried to cross into the middle and the ball struck a defender, but the referee waved play on.

A great piece of trickery by Rivers when he was surrounded by three defenders saw him cross into the middle where a defender cleared for a corner.

When Rivers’ corner came over, Terry Galbraith headed just over.

Farsley had their first chance on 13 minutes when Jimmy Spencer turned on the edge of the box and struck a left foot shot that Chris Elliott pushed around the post.

Quakers took the lead on 14 minutes when Adam Campbell picked the ball up on the edge of the area and slipped the ball through for Omar Holness to round the keeper and turn home, his sixth goal of the season.

It was nearly 2-0 when Campbell found space in the box and struck a powerful shot that Barnes just managed to touch over the bar.

But at the other end, former Darlington player Dave Syers charged down a clearance by Chris Elliott and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

Quakers nearly regained the lead when Rivers ran through the middle, played a 1-2 with Campbell, but he lost control just as he was about to shoot ten yards out.

Syers had another chance when a right wing cross was headed down to him, but his low shot was easily saved by Elliott.

It was nearly 2-1 when Hedley crossed from the right for Campbell to lay the ball off for Hatfield to fire just wide of the left hand post.

Campbell then played the ball through towards Donawa, but Barnes came racing out of his goal to clear.

Hedley then popped up on the right and tried his luck with a right foot shot, but the ball went over the top.

Hatfield then nearly scored one of his specials, a 35 yarder that Barnes touched over the top.

half time 1-1

Quakers nearly regained the lead just after half time when Campbell’s left wing cross was cleared to Donawa, whose shot on the turn was headed off the line.

Quakers were awarded a penalty on 49 minutes when Holness was bundled over in the box, and after Farsley’s protests died down, Campbell converted the penalty for his 16th of the season.

It was nearly 3-1 when Campbell put Donawa through, but Barnes just managed to fingertip the ball past the post.

And there was another chance when Wheatley crossed for Donawa to head just over the top

Hatfield had another long range shot saved by Barnes, then Rivers had another effort deflected wide.

Rivers then made a great run down the right and his cross was cleared to Campbell, who tried an overhead but the ball went just over the top.

Donawa then controlled a high ball in the box and pulled it back for Campbell to sidefoot wide. Campbell was then unlucky with a right foot shot that went just wide.

Quakers paid the penalty for those missed chances on 67 minutes when Luke Parkin found Spencer on the right side of the box, and from a tight angle, he fired past Elliott.

Quakers went behind on 70 minutes when a free kick from the right bounced off the crossbar, and Syers tapped the ball in.

And it was nearly 2-4 when Spencer’s header from a right wing corner was cleared off the line.

Quakers nearly scored at the other end when a Hatfield free kick was deflected over the top.

But Farsley scored a fourth when a free kick came over from their right, and Clayton scored with a free header at the far post.
