We were going well in mid September, and were in the top half of the table.

We lost 2-0 at Carlisle on 17th September

We bounced back at Southport with a 1-0 win.

We were involved in a six goal thriller at Mansfield on 8th October 1955

We had a good 4-1 home win over Crewe on 15th October 1955 to put us ninth, just five points behind the leaders.

We went to one of the top three, Derby County, on 3rd December and were thumped 6-2

We went to Accrington Stanley on Christmas Eve and lost 2-1

and then to Gateshead on Boxing Day, where we won 1-0

After drawing with Gateshead at Feethams on Boxing Day, we beat Barrow 4-2 at Feethams on New Year's Eve . WE finished the year in tenth place.
