More from Karl Alexander's collection
Darlo fan Karl Alexander has an extensive collection of Darlington FC programmes, and today we look at his collection from the second part of the 1951-52 season.
We went to Southport just before Christmas 1951, and lost 2-0.
We faced Gateshead on 13th February 1952 and won 3-2, with goals by Jimmy Scarborough (2) and John Kirk.
We were at Barrow on 15th March 1952, and an early version of "Face in the Crowd" is on the front cover. We drew 2-2 one of only six away points we collected that season.
We faced Grimsby on 22nd March 1952, but lost 2-0
Easter 1952 was a hectic time for Quakers.
We played Bradford City on Good Friday, April 11th 1952, and won 3-1. Jimmy Scarborough scored two of them.
We played Bradford PA the following day away from home, and lost 2-0
and Bradford City again on Easter Monday at Valley Parade. Three games in four days! We lost 3-1.
Our away form cost us that season. We finished second from bottom, a point behind Accrington Stanley. Workington finished bottom, and their away form was better than ours.
